Where We Work

The Kageno model combines the entrepreneurship of successful for-profit models with the needs-based approach of the non-profit sector. Microfinance and Income Generating Activities (IGAs) are central to the realization of Kageno’s vision for sustainable community driven programs. Kageno believes that a sustainable improvement of living conditions is best attained through a balanced and diverse set of carefully designed and measured interventions. Programs leverage the community’s inherent forms of social, human, and natural capital to grow opportunities for income generation. Simultaneously, infrastructure for basic necessities such as health care, sanitation, clean water, and environmental protection is built.

Kageno currently operates programs on Rusinga and Mfangano Islands, in Kenya and in Banda Village, Rwanda.
