Three-year-old Francine lives with her parents in a small rented home. Her family has few resources, and her parents work hard to provide for the household. Her father works with Kageno to help support his medical needs, while her mother cultivates land belonging to others because the family does not own land.

Kageno has also supported the family by establishing a vegetable garden to provide an additional source of food.

Francine attends Kageno Nursery School, where she is learning pre-writing, pre-reading, and counting while receiving two nutritious meals each day. She is an active, playful little girl who loves playing with a tennis ball.
