Five-year-old Ghislaine and her siblings live with their single mom who struggles to make ends meet. Finances are tight. They are often homeless, moving from place to place as they often fail to pay the rent. Her mother has often resorted to high-risk activities to support the family.

Attending Kageno Nursery School where she receives a pre-primary education as well as breakfast and lunch daily is a source of stability and consistency for Ghislaine. Despite her circumstances, Ghislaine is a cheerful, imaginative child, who enjoys playing with toys and being engaged in classroom activities.
